Founder

Luz Guillen, DNP, FNP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner dedicated to delivering compassionate, community-focused care to children and families. She is employed at White Oak Pediatrics in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Guillen has held several roles, including obstetric nurse and director of community outreach at a corporate wellness company. In 2014, she founded the Helping Our Communities Honor Aging (HOCHA) Foundation Inc., an organization that advocates for aging with a quality of life. The program connected students from Montgomery College and the University of Maryland with senior centers for an exchange of reminiscence therapy and intergenerational advocacy.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, Guillen went on to complete both her master’s in family nurse practitioner and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of California, Irvine.

Her clinical experience spans more than eight years of caring for women and children in California, where she developed a deep passion for preventive care and long-term health partnerships.

Guillen’s desire to become a family nurse practitioner was sparked by her time caring for vulnerable populations in rural areas of California, as well as the newborns in the hospital. She wanted to continue supporting children and their families beyond the delivery room —helping them grow healthy, strong, and happy throughout their lives.

Born and raised in South America, Guillen brings an informed perspective to her practice and is committed to building trust with the families she serves.

She is the founder of an international medical mission program that delivers care to rural communities in Latin America. As part of her ongoing mission to expand access to quality care, she is also pursuing the delivery of quantifiable, data-driven outcomes in underserved regions of Montgomery County.

Her vision is to ensure that every child — no matter where they are born — has the opportunity to thrive.

Outside work, Luz enjoys cooking, skiing, fly fishing, mountain biking, and climbing.
